It’s winter holiday time on the island of sodor which means that it‘s very cold but the engines do not mind and love this time of year when the stations are looking jolly in their decorations. There is also plenty of work with passengers and parcels being delivered no matter what the weather.Edward says there will be more snow on the way,James thinks that everybody will have to wear their snowplows, and Henry asks Thomas if he will enjoy it.Thomas tells them that he does not like his snowplow. That night the wind blows and the snow is falling heavily. The next morning,Sir Topham Hatt arrives at the sheds and tells the engines that they are to have their snowplows fitted. He also tells Thomas to collect a special from Callan station, which is needed for the village feast on Toby’s branch line.Thomas is excited about his special, but not about his new snowplow. He tells Sir Topham Hatt that is snowplow is awkward and uncomfortable and he asks Sir Topham Hatt if he has to wear it.Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas that everyone has to wear a snowplow. The fitters and Thomas’s driver try to help with Thomas’s snowplow and he thinks that the snowplow is horrid and awkward.Thomas feels much happier when he sees that his special is a beautiful Christmas tree.Edward tells Thomas that the tree will have lights and it will stand in the middle of the village. He also advises Thomas to get the tree to Toby safely once Thomas leaves.Thomas arrives at Maithwaite station and Toby is very happy to see Thomas.Toby tells Thomas that he is glad he has his snowplow and tells Thomas that he cannot clear the tracks by himself and they set off.Everything is going fine, until Thomas realizes that there is a rock buried under the snow.Suddenly,Thomas’s snowplow hits the rock and Thomas is shocked that his snowplow is now broken. His driver tries to stop, but the broken snowplow hits the water tower and it crashes to the ground.Thomas’s driver tells him that they cannot go any further and there is nobody to help him.But Thomas decides that he will try again and is sure that he can make it.It is not easy without a snowplow but Thomas is determined to push through every snowdrift after another. At last,Thomas and Toby make it to the station and the villagers cheer for Thomas for bringing their tree to them. The next morning,Sir Topham Hatt arrives and Thomas is worried what Sir Topham Hatt will say about his broken snowplow.Sir Topham Hatt is pleased and tells Thomas that the villagers had a wonderful feast and tells him that he was to take on snow without a plow.Sir Topham then continues to Thomas and tells him that there are no spare snowplows and he will have to do the job without his snowplow.Thomas grins and thanks Sir Topham Hatt, much to his delightness.
