Thomas and the Rumours is the second episode of the twelfth season.

Plot[]

When Thomas came to the station, he saw that the children were feeling very sad. They told him that the playground has been closed. Then Thomas ran back to the yard, but before he could tell the other engines, Percy came in between and told the other engines that The Fat Controller has decided to use Harold to show the islands to the Special visitors. Gordon, Henry and James felt very furious when they heard the news and started complaining.

Gordon was the first one to see Harold as he was travelling along the line with the express train. He said that he would show Harold how fast he can go. Next, was Henry turn to see Harold. He said that The Fat Controller chooses Harold because he thinks that he is important than Henry. But it wasn't true. When Percy puffed along the line, he stopped at the signal next to the field where the sheeps were grazing. Then Harold hovered for a while and buzzed away. Percy felt so pleased and knew that Harold was counting sheeps.

In the evening, the engines had their discussions about their situation. Henry and Gordon were thinking so negative about Harold, that he would get rid of them and doesn't need tunnels. But Percy kindly tells them that Harold was only counting sheeps. Gordon didn't care about what Percy says and started thinking that Harold is counting how many engines he can get rid of and see how useful Gordon is tomorrow. Thomas was about to talk about the children's playground, but solving the mystery of Harold became first.

The next day, Gordon was travelling to collect his train. He kept on watching Harold that he has suddenly missed the signal and went onto the wrong line. Gordon was nearly travelling for trouble and he could see the tunnel that has been shut down for repairs. Suddenly, he has lost control and crashed into the tunnel. When Thomas came to rescue Gordon from the tunnel with the breakdown train, he was so worried that Gordon would be scrapped. but the Fat Controller laughs and says that Harold was hired so the man could find a new site for the playground from the air.
