Mavis the quarry diesel is always a little worried when travelling along the quarry line towards Farquar, especially now that the extension means many lorries are travelling along the tram roads. Then one day, Mavis doesn't see a lorry speeding up towards her. As it swerves round, she hits it hard, sending it flying into a ditch! Nobody is hurt, but Mavis' front is slightly bent. She has to go and get it repaired. The other engines struggle without her and are happy when she returns. |

Mavis and the Lorry is the second episode of the first season of the Railway Series.
Plot
Mavis is bringing trucks down from Anopha Quarry when she sees a lorry at the crossing, where vehicles often come across with dangerous speed and turns. The driver, who is new to Sodor and does not expect to see an engine, has his lorry turned over when it collides with Mavis. Although the driver is unharmed but surprised, Mavis' cowcatcher is bent, and while she is being mended Toby is sent to work at the quarry, leaving Percy with extra work.
